Alejanddra Ambrosi premieres monologue “Hilos” – Grupo Milenio

Mexico City /

Alejandra Ambrosi makes her theater debut doing monologuesHilos is the text I was looking for to face this acting challenge, it plays Ema, a woman who suffers gender violence, which will lead the viewer, in addition to seeing the gender violence that the character experiences, to reflect on this problem and empathize with it. the victims through their most intimate thoughts and reactions.

“I looked for this work because for a long time I had wanted to do a monologueI previously worked with Gabriel Mata Cervantes, we made a very creative and magical dumbbell, so we decided to continue collaborating together and that is how we came up with this great text,” Ambrosi said in an interview with MILENIO.

Fabric, original name, is an English work by the writer Abi Zakarian which has won awards such as the Scotsman Fringe at the First Award in Edinburgh, a prize that recognizes excellence in writing and the emotional impact of theatrical pieces, a situation that caught the attention of the actress to choose this text to do a monologue.

I wanted to talk about a topic that seemed relevant to Mexico and for all people, this work is universal but resonates greatly in our country, where the rates of violence, machismo and inequality are very strong. I fell in love with the text and that is why I chose it. We also have the support of Fiesta Americana who are committed to the cause, to find different ways to fight against violence,” he said.

Ema is a dreamer woman who had a series of expectations in her life, Like many women who dream of getting married, having a good job and a life that perhaps their parents had, who fulfill the goals that they inherited to have a storybook life with a happy ending, but as happens in real life, She faces another harsh reality, which goes against what she always dreamed of.

The protagonist weaves a new story when she moves house, opening each of the boxes. Without imagining, she goes into the memories, realizing that now there is another story in her life, after having been a victim of violence and abuse.

“The character lets a series of things pass by, invisible threads that apparently don’t matter so much, But those small threads are woven until they form an immense knot that is not easy to untangle. Sadly, it happens to many people that not setting limits and identifying red flags leads to situations of extreme violence, reaching that point is not an isolated event, but the consequence of several events,” he explained.

The play is aimed at the entire audience because the actress says that each person in the audience The bag is going to fit in different ways, “it is an uncomfortable work that invites us to reflect and raise awareness about this issue, because there is a lack of more empathy,” he said.

To create the character, the actress, in addition to exploring it from the textto find where she was emotionally located, was finding out Ema’s emotional world with the help of literature on the topic of abuse.

“I wanted to root Emma not from a place of victimhood, but from a place of how to rise from the ashes, do it from the most luminous point of view despite the horror, with the books that I have read I wanted to nourish and imbue the character with the things that we do not imagine happen to victims of violence, but that they experience, such as the way of reacting and the stages of mourning and pain, all this to do it with the greatest possible truth,” he concluded.
