Theodora of Greece and the lawyer Matthew Kumar are already husband and wife. Being able to say ‘yes, I want’ has not been an easy task for the newlyweds, who had to postpone their wedding up to three times. However, the big day, full of emotions, arrived for the couple, who radiated happiness, as demonstrated by these official images shared by the Greek Royal House.
In these photographs you can see in all the luxury of details of the princess’s dressthe best kept secret. For her big day, Teodora from Greece has chosen a Celia Krithariot design with a Bardot neck, one of the most popular bridal trends this season, which leaves part of her shoulders visible and creates a subtle neckline in the back. In addition, the cousin of King Felipe VI has winked at her family history through the veil, a piece of lace belonging to her great-grandmother, Margaret of Connaught and that in the past was worn by Ingrid of Denmark, her mother Ana MarÃa, Queen Mary from Denmark, Alexia from Greece and Benedicta from Denmark. Likewise, the ‘khedive of Egypt’ tiara with which she has adorned her head is a family heirloom that has been in the jewelery box of the Hellenic Royal Family for more than a century.
The couple wanted to give special prominence to their loved oneswith whom they have been photographed in this extensive family portrait. Princess Theodora’s family is headed by Queen Anne Mary and Paul of Greece, who, due to her father’s absence, played the role of godfather. Of course, the rest of her siblings are not missing either: Princess Alexia, with her husband, the Canarian architect Carlos Morales; Prince Phillips and his wife Nina Flohr; and Prince Nicholas. In a more discreet background, Princess Teodora’s nephews, highlighting Princess Olympia and Arrieta Morales who served as bridesmaids.
In this picture you can also see Doña SofÃa, the infantas Cristina and Elena, the brothers Juan, Miguel and Irene Urdangarin and Princess Irene, who did not arrive with them at the entrance to the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Saint Mary of Athens. Celebrations that have once again made clear the good relationship and close bond that exists between both families. The Greek people have also welcomed them with great affection, since, as in February 2023 at the funeral mass for the memory of King Constantine, they all received a standing ovation when they got off the vehicle that was transporting them.
The farewell brunch
After passing through the altar, this Sunday the newlyweds gathered their guests again in the luxurious five-star hotel One & Only Aisthesis to celebrate a farewell brunch, where, surely, they will remember the funniest anecdotes from their wedding. The hotel chosen by Queen Sofia’s niece and husband is located on Glyfada beach, less than 20 kilometers from Athens. A dream enclave with views of the Aegean Sea and surrounded by 21 hectares of protected forest, in which there are also archaeological remains, whose design recalls the golden age of the Athenian Riviera.
