Evictions and evacuations in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán
The municipal government of Lázaro Cárdenas issued an urgent alert for the inhabitants of the neighborhoods near the Balsas River due to the release of the La Villita dam.
The municipal authorities, in coordination with the Civil Protection Directorate, asked residents to immediately evacuate their homes due to the imminent danger of the river overflowing, which has already reached critical levels.
Temporary shelters were set up in various areas to house the affected people, while the water level is expected to continue rising in the coming hours.
