Over the course of the 2023 NFL regular season, the Dallas Cowboys were considered to be one of the best all-around football teams in the league, as the team could get it done on both sides of the football with Dak Prescott leading the offense and Micah Parsons getting it done defensively.
Unfortunately, despite clinching the second seed in the NFC and looking like a legitimate Super Bowl title contender heading into the NFL playoffs, the Cowboys fell flat in the postseason.
The upstart Green Bay Packers, led by promising young quarterback Jordan Love, dominated the Cowboys in the first round of the playoffs, leading to Dallas’ season ending much sooner than anticipated and some changes to the coaching staff being expected.
Although many believed that head coach Mike McCarthy was on the hot seat with the team needing a new head coach, it was defensive coordinator Dan Quinn who decided to leave the team in order to become the head coach of the division-rival Washington Commanders.
With Quinn leaving a considerable void at defensive coordinator, Jerry Jones and company are searching for the next in line to guide this defense, with former head coaches Ron Rivera and Mike Zimmer interviewing for the job this week, via ProFootballTalk.

Obviously, both coaches have extensive backgrounds in the NFL and would be an ideal addition to McCarthy’s coaching staff moving forward, especially with so many talented players on the defensive side of the football.
It’ll be interesting to see what the Cowboys do here and if Rivera or Zimmer gets the job to be Quinn’s successor in Dallas.
