Eduardo Xol, soap opera actor and designer, dies after being stabbed in his home

There are no words or explanation to describe a loss of such magnitude. The world of entertainment in the United States and Latin America today mourns the death of the actor and designer Eduardo Xolknown for his participation in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and the soap opera Acapulco, Body and Soul after not being able to overcome the serious injuries suffered after being stabbed in his apartment in Palms Springs, California.

The 58-year-old interpreter was attacked on September 10 in his own home around 6 in the morning by a 34-year-old man from Cathedral City, California, who has been identified asor Richard Joseph Gonzales, and who is currently detained and accused of murder.

Xol, of Mexican roots, although born in Los Angeles on February 19, 1966, was a much-loved personality in the television world, where he had made a place for himself through a lot of effort and work. Before succeeding as a designer and star of the American small screen, he was a singer and was also an actor in the film Bravo and soap operas Acapulco: body and soul, The Golden Cage and Other People’s Feelings.

Eldest of three siblings (one of them suffering from lupus), Xol reached the peak of his fame after joining the cast of the reality show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition based on the renovation of express houses in 2007 and remained there until the eighth season broadcast throughout 2021.

As expected, the news of his death has caused a chain of reactions as well as countless messages of condolence, among which the one from Richard Pérez-Feriaeditor of The Mountains and great friend of the actor. “It is almost incomprehensible that I write this post as a farewell to someone who has been so present and who is so important in my life,” Pérez-Feria wrote. “When I found out that Eduardo Xol had died, I was paralyzed. It was impossible to process that information because it did not fit with my thousands of experiences with him,” he added.

“Please don’t ask me how or why right now… what matters most is who he was: a talented, beautiful, passionate friend, brother, son and partner… Sending so much love at this horrible time to his circle of friends and family who loved him so much. Unfortunately, tomorrow is not assured. Rest in peace, Eduardo.

The family, who is still trying to come to terms with their loss, has asked that instead of sending flowers, donations be made to Lupus Foundation of America to help other lupus patients like, Monica CajayonXol’s sister, whom the interpreter helped so much.
