Man, 20s, dies after horror two-car crash in Wicklow that also hospitalised girl as gardai issue urgent witness appeal

A YOUNG man has died in hospital following a horror two-car collision in Wicklow.

The incident occurred around 8.35am on the R753 between Ballinaclash and Aughrim, in Wicklow on Thursday morning.

Two cars collided on the road and the man in his 20s sustained serious injuries.

He was taken to St Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin, where he later died from his injuries.

A female child who was a passenger in the other vehicle was brought to Crumlin Children’s Hospital “as a precaution”.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information about the horror incident.

A spokesperson said: “Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision near Ballinaclash, Co Wicklow on Thursday morning, 26 September 2024.

“Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of a two car collision that occurred on the R753 between Ballinaclash and Aughrim at approximately 8.35am.

“The driver of one vehicle, a man aged in his 20s sustained serious injuries and was conveyed to St Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin. He has since passed away as a result of his injuries.

“A passenger in the other vehicle, a female child was conveyed to Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin as a precaution.

“Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

“Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time of the incident, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardai.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Wicklow Garda Station on 0404 60140, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”

Earlier this month, a woman in her 80s was killed when her car “collided with a number of parked vehicles” in Dublin.

The incident occurred on Hillside Drive, Rathfarnham, around 10.30 am on September 11.

TRAGIC CRASH

The woman was the driver and sole occupant of the car, and was killed in the crash.

A man who was sitting in one of the parked cars involved in the collision was rushed to hospital by emergency services.

He was admitted to St Vincent’s Hospital in Dublin for treatment with non-life threatening injuries.
