‘Not age appropriate’ mums fume after spotting new kid’s clothes in Tesco – with bodysuits, mini skirts & leather shorts

PARENTS are fuming after spotting a new range of kid’s clothes in Tesco.

The new range features stylish bodysuits, mini skirts and leather shorts, but mums were left totally divided.

Whilst some didn’t see a problem with the new clothes, other parents thought the range was ‘not age appropriate’.

It comes after Georgia Macgregor, 28, a mum-of-one from the UK, took to social media to give her followers a close-up look at the new girl’s clothes.

Showing off a white t-shirt bodysuit, a grey denim skirt and a black pair of leather shorts, the content creator posted her clip with the caption ‘Madness to me’.

The stunned mother then said: “I was so shocked when I went into Tesco today.

“They’ve got skirts like this, from ages four to five, and leather shorts and bodysuits.

“This is stuff I would wear, not from the age of five, come on. Maybe from 10.”

Georgia later wrote: “I honestly couldn’t believe it.

“They belong in the women’s section.

“The skirt made my jaw drop.”

Confused by the range, Georgia questioned: “Am I just getting old?”

In a follow-up clip, Georgia explained why she was particularly shocked to see bodysuits for young girls.

She confessed: “I don’t even like wearing bodysuits, they’re uncomfortable, so I can’t imagine how a four-year-old girl would feel.”

BIG DIVIDE

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @georgia96xxx, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as at the time of writing, it had quickly racked up 55,000 views.

But social media users were hugely divided by the Tesco children’s clothes.

Whilst some thought it was “so wrong”, others couldn’t see what the fuss was all about.

A mum’s perspective on little girl’s clothes

Mum-of-two and Senior Digital Writer at Fabulous, Sarah Bull, has shared her thoughts on buying clothes for young girls.

She shared: “I’m lucky enough to have both a son and a daughter.

“And when it comes to choosing outfits for my kids, I have always erred on the more demure side of things.

“Even with swimwear, I don’t like the idea of little girl wearing a bikini, and will always opt for a one-piece for her when we go swimming.

“My daughter, who’s six, is still in the stage of loving “girly” clothes like tutus and anything that glitters.

“But if she went to a shop and picked up a mini denim skirt or a pair of leather shorts that she wanted me to buy, I know for a fact that I’d put my foot down.

“She’s got years ahead of her to wear what she wants but, as her mother, I’ll be as firm as I possibly can over her wardrobe choices.

“So no, put the leather shorts back, and swap the miniskirts for a fluffy tutu instead.”

One person said: “I thought you were showing the adult section, it’s so wrong.”

Another added: “That skirt is a BELT, absolutely not age appropriate.”

It’s awful, way too grown up

A third commented: “I just find it wrong I’m ngl, kids should be dressed as kids.”

Meanwhile, someone else chimed in: “It’s awful, way too grown up.”

Personally I think the clothes are fine…

However, at the same time, one woman asked: “Aren’t most of the stuff babies etc wear just glorified bodysuits anyway?”

One mother questioned: “I put my 6 year old in leather shorts in the winter with tights, boots and chunky jumpers? Should I not be?”

Whilst another shopper wrote: “Personally I think the clothes are fine…BUT it’s the way you style them that’s the issue!”
