Three arrested for extorting Michael Schumacher’s family with private photos

It has been more than a decade since the pilot’s life Michael Schumacherr changed forever after suffering a serious ski accident in the French Alps and since then the health status of the seven-time Formula 1 champion has been a mystery. However, now a group of heartless people have used this strong secrecy surrounding the life of the so-called ‘kaiser’ to extort money from his family by trying to obtain money with particularly sensitive images that would show the current state of the former pilot.

This all started at the beginning of the year when a former Schumacher security employee tried to take advantage of the situation and “hired” a nightclub bouncer and his son to extort money from the pilot’s wife, Corinnaand his two children, Mick and Gina-Mariawith private photos and videos of Michael if they did not pay an amount that amounted to 15 million euros.

The extortion was reported by the family to the German authorities who, eager to get to the bottom of this matter, began an exhaustive investigation that led them to arrest the father and sons last June, who seized around 1,500 documents, including photographs. , videos and medical reports of the former pilot on hard drives, USB drives and mobile phones.

Subsequently, and after the nightclub bouncer revealed to the investigators who was the person who had sent him this sensitive audiovisual material, the former employee and leader of said extortion was arrested.

Now, the Wuppertal Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against these three investigated for an alleged blackmail plot against the family of the Formula 1 legend.

Yilmaz Tthe main suspect, and whom until now we have described simply as a nightclub bouncer, is accused of calling the Schumacher family several times this summer to demand money, allegedly threatening to release the confidential images on the “dark web” (a part of the Internet that allows users to hide their identity and location from other people and police forces).

He faces charges of attempted blackmail and could also face a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, although, since the extortion was not carried out and it was only an attempt, this could be reduced.

The son, for his part, is accused of complicity in blackmail. The young man, 30, is the one who allegedly created an untraceable email address from which photos were sent to the family as evidence of blackmail.

Meanwhile, the family’s former security guard is suspected of converting the photos into digital format and selling them to Yilmaz T and his son for a “six-figure” price. Then father and son transferred “individual files” to the family to demonstrate that they had access to documents about the F1 star as part of their threat, as the investigators of this case that has already gone around the world have announced. .
