Tyrrell Hatton tells hilarious story about Caleb Surratt at Las Vegas Hotel

LIV Golf star Tyrrell Hatton has revealed how his new Legion XIII teammate Caleb Surratt was initially unable to check-in to their Las Vegas hotel this week due to him being under 21 years old.

Hatton, speaking ahead of this week’s LIV Golf Las Vegas, had to step in and act as Surratt’s guardian at the reception desk.

The 32-year-old Englishman explained he had to hand over his driver’s license so that Surratt, 19, could have a bed for the night.

Hatton said:

“Checking in yesterday, I kind of kept looking over to Caleb, and he was looking over at me quite nervous, so once I finished checking in, I sort of wandered over to make sure that he was OK, and as I got there, the lady checking him in said that he needed someone over 21 to be on the reservation to allow him to stay in the room. I had to hand over my driver’s license to make sure he had a bed for the night.”

The story was confirmed on social media by LIV Golf editorial director, Mike McAllister.

Jon Rahm‘s brand new Legion XIII team, which also comprises Kieran Vincent, was only compiled last Monday.

Legion XIII got off to the perfect start at LIV Golf Mayakoba last week as they sprinted away with the team title by four strokes.

Hatton played a large part in their success as he closed with a stunning 7-under 64, which marked the lowest score of the final round.

Legion XIII finished the week on 24-under par, four shots clear of Bryson DeChambeau‘s Crushers GC.

They won a combined $3m for landing the team title in Mexico.

Rahm was left somewhat deflated on Sunday, however, as he bogeyed the final two holes of the tournament to finish two shots back in the individual title.

The Spaniard pulled himself into a tie for the lead with two holes to play on his LIV Golf debut, but then threw the title away when finding the penalty area down the 17th.

Hatton finished T8, Surratt in T13 and Vincent down in T38.

Joaquin Niemann defeated his former mentor Sergio Garcia with a birdie at the fourth extra hole in darkness.
