Opinion approved in general
Amidst confrontation, accusations, and audio recordings, Morena and the Green and Labor parties asserted their majority and approved in general, with the votes against of the PAN, PRI, and Movimiento Ciudadano, the transfer of the National Guard to the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena).
In a night session, which began at 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, and after the 24 hours required by law had elapsed, the majority began the fast track discussion and after almost seven hours it was approved by having the qualified majority required to modify the Constitution. This was achieved by 86 votes in favor and 42 against.
The decree was immediately sent to the state congresses for ratification by half plus one. The reforms that modify articles 13, 16, 21, 32, 55, 73, 76, 78, 82, 89, 123 and 129 of the Magna Carta were endorsed by ….. In addition to its affiliation with the Sedena, the National Guard is given the power to investigate crimes.
