Perreo Millenial celebrates 8 years of projecting reggaeton exponents – Grupo Milenio

Today reggaeton is not experienced the same as it was a few years ago. This musical movement has completely taken over the industry and the audience’s ears.but according to Paulina García, Ana Patricia Castellanos and Jesús Daniel Hernández, founders of Perreo Millennial, it is through the creation of spaces focused on its dissemination that The Mexican reggaeton scene has found access to the communities that consume its music and vice versa.

In 2016, Perreo Millennial was born, a collective that began supporting musician friends and is now completely focused on giving visibility to new Mexican reggaeton proposals.

That’s why, As a celebration of 8 years of parties and work, Perreo Millennial prepared an eighth anniversary meeting made up of entirely national talent. And it is here where the heads of the group admit that The objective begins to be met.

“These spaces, like Perro Millennial and other platforms, are where artists begin to generate. It’s like a cycle: they listen to them and they go to see them, they continue listening to them. There is no way that the scenario does not lead you to give them ‘play’. Here “It is where the artist is nourished, trained and begins to generate his first fans,” explained Ana Patricia Castellanos in an interview with MILENIO.

“I feel that Our goal, genuinely, has always been to support the national reggaeton scene. At that time to friends who were just starting out and later to more people that we met. It has always been a very important premise of Perreo Millennial: supporting talent.”

The three founders recognize a passion and personal vocation in the search for emerging talents and that has culminated in the fact that, from the curation of each party and event, they have promoted proposals that seek to have a space within the country’s ‘reggaeton’ community.

“We look for what sounds cool and what is going to stick in the coming years. We have contributed a lot and it is very natural, we continue doing it. We have done a very important grain of sand,” added Ana Patricia.

The celebration of the 8th anniversary of Perreo Millennial

It will be this Saturday, October 5, when the event takes place in Boca del Río (Rivera de San Cosme 42) with a very special ‘line-up’ that brings together Cachirula and Loojan, in their joint project, Ruzzo Doble ZZ, DJ Jester, DJ Drewther, Un flamingo en tutu, among others. The celebration will begin at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and will end until 5:00 a.m. the next day.

Jesús Daniel Hernández describes that in all this time what has changed the most is “the type of reggaeton that was played and the growth that the Mexican reggaeton scene has had in these 8 years”.

That is why they consider that Perreo Millennial has become a good example of the current state of the national reggaeton industry.

“At first it was very difficult to imagine that only and exclusively Mexican talent could be presented at a Perreo Millennial anniversary party because 8 years ago this did not sell, It didn’t attract people’s attention. They thought that interesting things were not done in Mexico at the reggaeton level, but after this time we realized that they were and that Mexican reggaeton is for this and to do more things,” commented Jesús Daniel.

Paulina García considers that the group, In its main mission, it has not changed much, but it is possible to notice the evolution of the genre and the industry itself in the type of audience that attends these meetings today.

“At the beginning, the events were very much for friends and people close to Paty and Daniel. As the years have passed, there are people who have joined and remain today.”

“There are new people and what is very cool is that at the parties you can find people of different ages: from 34 up, even faces that are friends of the newest talents we have. Even people who come to us out of curiosity”

“They become very cool parties because there are all kinds of looks, all kinds of ages and everything coexists in a very harmonious way. That is a good sign because you realize that despite 8 years, there are people who are there and that means that there is a base, a community that has been generated in all these years,” Paulina declared.
