What does the proposal say?
The project presented by the STPS says that workers who generate profits equal to or greater than the minimum reference will have all the rights established in the Federal Labor Law (LFT)as well as full social security.
And that those who do not have such income will still be protected against accidents by the IMSSand they will have rights such as pension, daycare, maternity time, etc.
According to data from the secretariat, this scheme would benefit at least 272,000 of the estimated 658,000 app delivery drivers and drivers in the country, that is, 40 percent.
Why the refusal of the delivery people?
This initiative is already being discussed in the Chamber of Deputies for analysis and if approved, a transitional regime will be established for the IMSS to implement a mandatory pilot program for companies.
But the dialogues continue, as the delivery drivers ask for a proposal from scratch and for all points to be clarified.
Well, they are worried, since there is a lot of information about the possible impact of this proposal on their income and on the people who will be able to generate income on the platforms.

When did the controversy start?
This dialogue began in 2021 between companies with delivery workers and government institutions, where the need for more labor rights was raised.
