I’m Olivia Attwood’s beautician -you should avoid ‘preventative Botox’ as it can make you more wrinkly in the long run

DOCTOR Saleena Zimri is the wizard behind Olivia Attwood’s aesthetic work.

The qualified GP has been in the industry for 15 years and worked on a number of famous faces – so, her opinion is one we can trust.

Self-confessed “plastic surgery fanatic” Olivia, 33, has been working with Dr Saleema for over five years to nail a more natural look.

She has been featured on a host of the Loose Women panellist’s docu-series’ – such as Olivia Marries Her Match – and has won a number of awards.

But the leading doc disagrees with a common aesthetic practice.

Dr Saleema disagrees with the notion of preventative Botox.

She even claims it could lead to you having more wrinkles and fine lines in the long run.

Preventative Botox refers to the use of anti-wrinkle injections in your mid-to-late 20s or early even 30s, before deep wrinkles or fine lines have fully formed.

The idea is to prevent the development of these lines and wrinkles by limiting the movement of facial muscles that contribute to them.

However, Dr Saleema doesn’t agree with the idea being “pushed by the cosmetic industry”.

“I don’t believe in it, personally,” she shared on Olivia’s podcast, So Wrong It’s Right.

“Botox is so effective in most people.

My two-ingredient face mask mimics the effects of Botox and tightens up saggy skin – you can make it in your kitchen in just 15 minutes

“When you see your first wrinkle, it will zap that wrinkle.

“So, why would you – three to four years, five years, seven years, whatever it is before that – do Botox procedures to basically get the same result in the end?”

Botox works by temporarily paralysing the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles, which are lines on the face that form from repeated facial expressions like frowning, smiling or squinting.

Dr Saleema explained: “We’ve got to remember that Botox is a medicine.

“You will eventually become immune to it.

“So, you’d rather not become immune to it at 30-years-old.”

If your body becomes resistant to Botox – the common name for anti-wrinkle injections – at a young age, it will be ineffective when you actually develop wrinkles to zap.

How much does Botox cost?

BOTOX and anti-wrinkle injections are one of the most popular cosmetic treatments available today.

Botox injections work by weakening or paralyzing certain muscles or by blocking certain nerves.

The effects last about three to twelve months, depending on what you are treating.

The NHS website estimates each botulinum toxin injection costs £150-£350 per session.

The price varies depending on how much is used per session, they add.

Botox prices fluctuate depending on where you go to get it done and the number of areas treated.

Some companies offer one area for around the £200 mark, and most offer packages if you want to add more areas to your treatment.

It is worth doing your research before you undergo the treatment – and remember that going ‘cheap’ isn’t always a good idea.
