Migrant caravan “King of Kings” advances despite temperatures in Chiapas – Grupo Milenio

Despite the high temperatures recorded this Saturday in the region of SoconuscoChiapas, the ‘King of Kings’ migrant caravan managed to advance 26 kilometers on its first day, which translates into an eight-hour walking tour.

The group, made up of 500 foreignersleft Tapachula around 5:00 a.m. and arrived in Huehuetán around 2:00 p.m., where he was treated by personnel from Municipal Civil Protection.

In interview for MILLENNIUMJosé, of Venezuelan nationality, stated that the authorities of the National Institute of Migration (INM) tried to dissolve the caravan by offering them transportation to the capital of Chiapas.

However, They refused to receive supportsince they distrust immigration policies.

“Until now they have approached us, They have offered us children’s clothingalso what is health and migration has come offering to take us to Tuxtla, but we don’t want to go to Tuxtla“.

“Well, the immigration people told us that voluntarily If they wanted we could turn ourselves in and they would take us to Tuxtla on a bus, but the truth is we don’t wantwe have already decided to make this caravan and with this same caravan and we the group are going to arrive”, he emphasized.

Four days after the inauguration of the protest Claudia Sheinbaum as president of Mexico, Luis Guillén, also of Venezuelan origin, asked the authorities for help to be able to move freely through the country, since many migrants have been victims of organized crime.

“Please help us so that we do not have any complications like the kidnapping, that nothing happens to us, that we have greater security.

The migrant caravan, made up mostly of pregnant women, older adults and younger children five years old, was resting on the concrete floor of the public court in the municipality of Huehuetanenabled as a temporary shelter.

Local authorities also made available medical service for people in transitsince a dozen had blisters and heat strokes, due to the temperature exceeded 32 degrees.

This Sunday the “King of Kings” caravan is scheduled to continue its journey towards the Mexico Cityso they are expected to leave around 4:00 a.m. to advance to the coastal municipality of Huixtla.
