I’m Vicky Pattison’s makeup artist, my lash hack is better than Botox, your eyes will look bigger and better instantly

FALSE eyelashes are a great way of adding instant glam to your beauty look.

But they can be an intimidating experience as if applied incorrectly or the wrong size they can look more gruesome than glam.

However, there are many tips and tricks to avoid your eyelashes looking too weighted or  smaller.

Makeup artist to Vicky Pattison, Lielle Neury reveals how to handle falsies for every eye shape.

HOODED EYES

If you have hooded eyes and you want to create the illusion of bigger eyes, you should emphasise the middle of the eye as this will create a wider eye shape that is more open.

Lashes when placed on the outer corners can make the eyes appear more droopy or

heavy-looking, and is often the reason I find people with hooded eyes don’t like how lashes look on them.

I would use a natural/wispy lash from Eyelash Emporium.

ALMOND EYES

If you want to accentuate almond eyes and don’t struggle with hooded eyes, I would recommend a half lash to create a ‘feline’ effect.

This will essentially elongate the eye and enhance your natural eye shape.

Follow my step-by-step guide to apply false eyelashes – the genius lies in my placement trick, it’ll look seamless

DOWNTURNED EYES

For downturned eyes you want to elevate your lashes and create a ‘lifted’ look. I like to phrase this as ‘Botox for the eyes using lashes’.

Use soft and wispy doll styled lashes that are evenly curled throughout.

Using your fingers or a pair of tweezers, gently push and hold the lashes at the base once they’re freshly applied and the glue has gone tacky to help hold them upwards for naturally straight lashes.

Lielle Neury’s ‘tightening’ tip

Tightlining if your best friend for a seamless, natural lash look according to Lielle.

Tightlining is an eyeliner technique that involves applying eyeliner to the upper waterline, the area right under your upper lashes, to create the illusion of thicker, fuller lashes.

It’s a subtle way to define your eyes and enhance your lash line without a noticeable line of eyeliner. This is also such a must if you want a traceless false lash look as there won’t be a ‘gap’ between your lash line and your tightline.

When applying your false lashes always make sure your glue is tacky before application and also clamp the false lashes together with your natural lashes not only for a seamless blend but also for comfort.

By doing this you won’t be irritated whilst wearing your lashes.
