Sheinbaum sends reform initiatives for judicial election – Grupo Milenio

The government of the Republic sent to Congress the initiatives for the secondary laws of the reform of the Judiciary.

This Monday, during ‘The People’s Conference’, the President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that initiatives to reform the L will be sent to Congressey General of Electoral Institutions and Procedures and the General Law of the System of Means of Challenge in Electoral Matters.

With these adjustments, “legality, certainty, impartiality, objectivity and transparency” will be given to the judicial electoral process, where elections will be to the ministers of the Supreme Court of Justice and magistrates of the Electoral Tribunal, among others.

The Legal Counsel reported that the election of judges and magistrates will be carried out in two stages. One in 2025 and the other in 2027.

They deliver initiatives in the Senate

The Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodriguezdelivered to the Senate the reform initiatives that contain the procedural instructions to make the election of judges, magistrates and ministers viable.

He explained that these reform initiatives to the General Law of Electoral Institutions and Procedures and the System of Means of Challenge will provide legal certainty to the procedures and will validate the electoral process in all its phases.

It also proposes to modify the General Law of the System of Means of Challenges, since with it the autonomy and independence of the judicial power can be materialized, by pointing out that citizens expressed their desire to have justice.

“The recently approved constitutional reform to the Judiciary represents a new reality in which the three powers of the Union are elected by popular vote, therefore to materialize this objective, we are delivering these two initiatives that contain the procedural instructions that are required to make the election of judges, magistrates and ministers of the country possible and viable.

Rosa Icela Rodriguez added that “today we have the opportunity to make history by participating in the construction of a new structure of justice providers in Mexico.”

The federal official presented the two initiatives to the president of the Senate, Gerardo Fernández Noroña, who announced that next Wednesday they could be presented to the plenary session, after ruling before committees.
