What is Puff Daddy’s life behind bars after being accused of sex trafficking and organized crime?

The days of wine and roses are over, for now and it seems for a long time, for Sean Combs. The artist popularly known as Puff Daddy or P. Diddy has been living behind bars since he was arrested just three weeks ago, accused of sex trafficking and organized crime, among other charges. The question that many are asking now is how the disowned star spends his days, and if, thanks to his high purchasing power, he enjoys some kind of privilege behind bars.

The 54-year-old rapper remains in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, after being denied bail by the judge. After pleading not guilty to all the crimes he is accused of, he is now awaiting trial. Apparently, his daily life in a federal prison of these characteristics is “somber,” according to what a former inmate has said about the conditions that exist in a place deprived of liberty like this.

The testimony in question is from Timothy Smith, whom reality television viewers in the United States know perfectly well since he participated in the dating show Married at First Sight (format adapted in Spain by Antena 3 under the name Married at first sight). Before his experience on the small screen, Smith was imprisoned for the distribution and sale of narcotics, something he has now spoken about for the Daily Mail.

Despite the great fortune that Puff Daddy has, he does not enjoy “any special treatment,” says the interviewee. “Your money in there does not bring you any benefit,” he adds bluntly, based on his own experiences with high-status inmates. “In a place like this everything is very limited and they don’t give you additional perks for being rich. They allow you to buy some basic things, like a tracksuit and some sneakers, but that’s all,” he emphasizes.

The guards even “do raids and if you try to hoard, they take everything from you,” Smith adds. In fact, if you do not strictly comply with the rules, what awaits you is surely an isolation cell. In addition, Sean Combs is currently “in the administrative unit, so he has no contact with others” incarcerated, he said. “People think there are televisions and radios there, but where he is there is nothing. They give you a Bible and a book a week, just like that.”

On communication with the outside world: “You only have 300 minutes a month on the phone,” he explained. “So, if you spend calls for half an hour a day for ten days in a row, then you will spend twenty days without being able to talk to anyone,” he details. In this way, if you do not calculate correctly the time you have used, in the end “you are left talking to yourself” within those walls, he points out. “He’s not going to get out of this so easily,” he finally concludes when asked about the immediate future of the well-known rapper.
