The General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of India, today issued a warning safety for airlines operating aircraft Boeing 737 due to problems detected in the system rudder control.
The warning responds to a recent report by the National Transportation Safety Board of the United States (NTSB), which highlighted possible risks associated with the rudder system of aircraft, equipped with SVO-730 taxiing actuators from Collins Aerospace.
Currently, Indian companies Air India ExpressAkasa Air and SpiceJet operate aircraft Boeing 737.
In the warning, the DGCA issued a recommendation for immediate implementation as inform the crew “about the potential problem and provide appropriate mitigation strategies,” according to the document.
Indian airline operators must also carry out a comprehensive evaluation to examine and address the risks associated with the rudder control system, as well as perform frequent drills of rudder control system lockout or restriction scenarios.
The DGCA assured that these provisional measures they aim improve security and ensure that flight crews are well prepared to effectively handle potential rudder control problems.
Boeing has faced a intense pressure due to a series of security incidents related to its aircraft, especially the 737 MAX model.
Two fatal accidents of this model in 2018 and 2019, mainly attributed to failures in your system, triggered a crisis of confidence in the company.
