Ed Wheeler was an American actor who was born on February 18, 1936 in Brooklyn. Wheeler got his start in show business doing commercials of televisionincluding national advertisements for brands such as diapers Luvs, Reynolds Wrap, Sudafed, Pepcid ACComputer Associates and many others.

He trained as an actor with Gene Frankel and Vin Diesel’s stepfather. Irving Vincentand earned his first film credits in television series such as Watch Your Mouth3-2-1 Contact and The Core of the Apple.

Wheeler’s first film role was alongside William Hurt, Albert Brooks and Holly Hunter in Broadcast News (1987), by James L. Brooks.

He then appeared in films such as Presumed Innocent, Thinner, Daylight, Godzilla 1998,Mickey Blue Eyes, Head of StateThe Good Guy and The Good Heart.

Wheeler appeared as a guest at least 6 episodes of the iconic NBC drama Law and Order between 1992 and 2004 and also made episodes of popular series like Ed, Soul Food, Third Watch, New York Undercover, Hope & Faith and One Life to Live. He also worked with Bill Cosby on Cosby and as a voice actor on Little Bill. His most recent credit was a 2010 episode of Blue Bloods.

In 2017Wheeler was honored with the Living Legend Award from the National Black Theater Festival in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in honor of his contributions to American theater and to the entertainment industry in general.

Ed Wheeler’s wife says goodbye with emotional message

Messeret Stroman Wheeler, wife of actor announced the news of her husband’s death several weeks later through her Instagram account with some emotional words for her “beloved husband”.

“In memory of my beloved husband, Ed Wheeler,” wrote Messeret. “You brought light, laughter and love to every corner of my life and to the lives of all of us who knew you. Your talent, dedication and passion were unmatched, whether on stage, in front of the camera or behind the scenes. From national commercials to the esteemed Negro Ensemble Company, your presence was felt and appreciated.”

“My dear Ed, you were more than a public figure; you were my guiding light, a supportive companion, and my heart,” Stroman Wheeler wrote.

“We built a life and created art together, and your legacy will continue to be an inspiration. I will forever miss your voice, your wisdom, and your generosity.”

Messeret continued: “To everyone who knew Ed, thank you for your love and support during this time. Let us remember him for the joy he brought to our lives and the profound impact he had on the world.
Rest in peace, my love. “You will always be in my heart.”
