The head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, said that her government would implement the permanent driving license as part of his campaign proposals.
For now, Citizens remain in expectation of when they would begin to be applied, since, currently the procedure must be carried out periodically.
When does the process for a permanent driver’s license begin?
It is expected that the document will be available to the inhabitants of the capital at the beginning of 2025, as it is part of the first commitments of the administration of the head of Government.
According to Brugada, in the first 100 days of his government the necessary requirements will be established to process this license, which will offer a more comfortable and efficient alternative for drivers. Taking into account that he took office on October 5, the deadline for the permanent driver’s license to come into force in Mexico City it is next January 13, 2025.
People will benefit from the driver’s license by eliminating the periodic renewal, allowing citizens to have a document valid indefinitely, similar to other licensing schemes that already exist in some entities in the country.
How much will a permanent driver’s license cost?
The implementation of the driver’s license is one of the measures of the government of Mexico City to facilitate procedures and improve the quality of life of citizens.
Therefore, the cost of the permanent document has not yet been revealed by the authorities, however, It currently costs 1,049 pesos. for type A and A2, as well as to replace the permanent one, and 525 pesos for type A1. Payment can be made online or at an authorized center.
The driver’s license type A and A2 are valid for three years while the type A1 license also has a validity of three years.
