Joaquín Guzmán López leaves prison in the US and Ovidio returns – Grupo Milenio

Joaquín Guzmán López left the federal prison where he was admitted after his arrest a few months ago, as part of an agreement with the authorities that will involve them pleading guilty and then collaborating with the US authorities. Ovidio Guzmán, his brother, was re-admitted to the penitentiary center days before he appeared before the judge handling his case, but also in the middle of plea negotiations.

Joaquín Guzmán, alias El Güero, left the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago, Illinois, as part of an agreement reached with US authorities, which also included the kidnapping and delivery of Ismael Zambada García, El Mayo, into the hands of federal authorities.

According to El Güero’s file, this October 16 he was no longer in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the prison authority of the US government. As Milenio has been able to find out, he is still in custody of the US government waiting to sign a plea agreement that will open the doors for cooperation.
