Morena asks to investigate Calderón, Anaya and Cortés by García Luna- Grupo Milenio

The parliamentary group of Brunette in the Chamber of Deputies asked the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) open an ex officio investigation against the former president Felipe Calderon to determine if he was aware of the links of Genaro García Luna with crime, as well as against senators Marko Cortés and Ricardo Anaya for hiring, as leaders of the PAN, a company of the former Secretary of Security linked to criminal activities.

“The FGR, the UIF and the INE have sufficient elements to initiate an ex officio investigation against Marko Cortés, Ricardo Anaya and Felipe Calderón himself; “They should be summoned to begin declaring and clarifying what the relationship was and under what terms between the leadership of the PAN and the companies of Genaro García Luna,” said deputy Arturo Ávila, spokesperson for the cherry bench in the San Lázaro Palace.

In a press conference, the legislator maintained that the PAN could even lose its registration as a political party for allocating resources to criminal activities.

The Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) revealed in early 2023 that the PAN hired the services of Glac Security Consulting Technology Risk Management SC for an amount of 1.1 million pesos and although the president of the party, Marko Cortesadmitted the existence of the contract, pointed out that it was signed eight years ago and for an amount less than that referred to.

Ávila ruled out, however, the presentation of a criminal complaint by the federal deputies of Morena against the former president. Felipe Calderón and Senators Cortés and Anaya for his relationship with the former head of Public Security.

“We are asking for the intervention of the FGR to initiate an ex officio investigation folder into the relationship of Marko Cortés, Ricardo Anaya and Acción Nacional with García Luna’s companies that, according to the files in the United States folder, are “He dedicated himself to spying and had links to organized crime,” he said.

He also urged to clarify the responsibility of the former president Calderonwho was allegedly informed by General Tomás Ángeles Dahuahare, then Undersecretary of Defense, of the criminal activities of Genaro García Luna.

“Does it seem minor to you that an Undersecretary of Defense has informed a president that his right arm, the Secretary of Public Security, Genaro García Luna, had links to organized crime and had not done anything?” he questioned.
