The agency road safety of USA is investigating the system again “full autonomous driving” of teslathis time after receiving reports of accidents in low visibility conditionsincluding one in which a pedestrian died.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says in documents that it opened the investigation on Thursday after the automaker reported four accidents occurred after the Teslas entered low visibility areas, including through the sun glare, the fog and he suspended dust.
In addition to the death of a passerby, another crash caused one injurythe agency noted.
Researchers will study the ability of “full autonomous driving” system to “detect and respond appropriately to reduced visibility conditions on the road and, if so, the circumstances that contribute to these accidents.”
The investigation covers some 2.4 million Tesla of models manufactured between 2016 and 2024.
