John Eustace was proud of his Rovers side as they dug deep to overcome Swansea City and make it five successive home wins in the league.
Tyrhys Dolan got the decisive goal inside the opening 15 minutes, with Ryan Hedges and Andi Weimann also going close after the break.
Eustace’s was delighted with the response following defeats at Coventry and Plymouth before the break and believes their hard work on the training pitch paid off.
“I am just very proud of the effort today,” he said after the final whistle.
“Obviously, it has been two weeks where we have all been angry and frustrated about the way we finished before the international break – two really difficult away games in that four-day period.
“It has been a tough two weeks but we have done a lot of hard work on the training field and I think you could see that coming out today.
“I thought we fully deserved the win. Swansea have lots of possession but I don’t think Aynsley (Pears) had a save to make, which is what we were working on.
“We looked a threat on transitions and I thought we played some really good football as well at times, especially that first half. It was very pleasing.”
Rovers showed their inner steel in the final stages as the visitors cranked up the pressure in search of an equaliser.
Owen Beck and Yuki Ohashi were among those who didn’t have much time to prepare for the fixture after being away on international duty.
“We worked really hard,” Eustace continued. “Obviously, we have had five away which wasn’t ideal. Owen came back on Thursday and O-chan came back on Friday morning.
“The squad have been outstanding. The attitude of the boys, since I have been at the club, has been very good.
“You could see we were digging deep there second half, against a lot of possession. The way we defended the box and put our bodies on the line was what we are all about.”
