False bomb threats to commercial flights continued to affect the planes of several airlines in India, where almost 100 aircraft to or from this Asian country were forced to remodel their travel plans in the last week.
According to the Indian television channel NDTV, with today’s false threats, more than ninety flights have received this type of notice in recent days, around 20 today.
On Saturday, more than 30 planes had to cancel their takeoff, reroute or make emergency landings amid a wave of false bomb threats, common in India, but intensified now.
Most of the false ads were made by social media users like X.
According to Indian media, almost half of the false threats came from the same profile on this social network.
Posts by user @adamlanza1111 — who uses the name of the perpetrator of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre that killed 28 people in the United States in 2012 — are no longer visible and his profile has been suspended by X, according to the The Hindustan Times newspaper.
As for the false threats this Sunday, these would have affected flights of the airlines Air India, Vistara, IndiGo and Akasa Air, all of them Indian.
The warnings have frustrated the prospects of flights to or from India, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Singapore, Germany or Indonesia.
For their part, other airlines have acknowledged that several of their planes have received false threats, but they have not detailed to the media which aircraft experienced these types of warnings.
Although false bomb threats to airplanes, hospitals, educational centers or infrastructure are common in India, the accumulation of warnings this week, together with the chaos unleashed in the airline sector of this Asian country and how this could affect companies economically, have set off the alarms of the authorities and the airlines.
India’s Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and representatives of the affected airlines met in New Delhi yesterday.
Both the Minister of Civil Aviation of India, Ram Mohan Naidu, and others in charge of managing the airspace of this country have guaranteed the safety of the planes and have assured that the usual protocols in these cases are being carried out.
