In Oaxaca, the judges of a special court on gender issues have issued 129 protection measures in just 5 monthsto protect and save the lives of victims of violence from domestic abuse to attempted femicide, in addition to which some 70 aggressors have been arrested.
In this sense, the President of the Superior Court of Justice of Oaxaca, Berenice RamÃrez Jiménez, indicated that these actions and numbers reflect the importance of the court. specialized in ensuring the safety and well-being of women, girls, boys and adolescents who suffer violence, providing them with support through mechanisms that prevent, address, punish and eradicate these types of unacceptable behavior.
She stated that five months after its creation, the work of the Specialized Court has not only allowed it to respond quickly to emergencies but also to adapt protection measures to the specific needs of each victim, the most common being the prohibition of approaching them, their daughters and sons and the evacuation of the aggressor from the marital or partner’s home.
She explained that care has been provided to women of the Mixe, Maya, Triqui and Mazatec ethnic groups. In addition, of the 129 protection orders, 14 stand out that have been executed in communities in the regions of the Central Valleys, Tuxtepec, Mixteca, Sierra Sur and the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and two more attended to in collaboration with the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection of Oaxaca (SSPC).
Another four correspond to the location and recovery of minors at risk.; a rescue of a victim and children of American nationality and the separation of the aggressors, who are usually mainly concubines, spouses, siblings or parents, from the home where they live with the assaulted persons, has been achieved.
