The President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador He organized a farewell party with the members of the Security Cabinet to thank them for their work during his administration. He also took the opportunity to announce that his retirement from politics will also include his resignation from the militancy of Brunettea party which he founded in 2014.
Lopez Obrador He said that he made this decision because he is very happy and calm about the direction that the people of Mexico decided to take during the elections of June 2 and because within Morena there is a generational change with Luisa Maria Mayor to the front.
“I am very happy with that (the appointment of Luisa María Alcalde), I also renounce party militancy. But I am leaving happy with that,” said the president, who is one week away from leaving office.
López Obrador founded the National Regeneration Movement in 2014 and since then personalities such as Marti Batres, Yeidckol Polevnsky, Alfonso Ramirez Cuellar and Mario Delgado have been national presidents of said party.
Currently, the replacements in the National Executive Committee of the party are Luisa María Alcalde as national leader, López Beltrán as Secretary of Organization and Carolina Rangel as General Secretary.
During the meeting, which took place in the central courtyard of the National Palace, the Secretaries of the Interior, Luisa María Alcalde; of Public Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Rosa Icela Rodriguezand various undersecretaries of said departments.
“President López Obrador met with collaborators who carry out operational actions every day to make strategic decisions in the security cabinet,” the person in charge of public security posted on her social networks.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Interior, Arturo Medinadetailed on its social accounts that the Undersecretary of the SSPC, Luis Bucio, and the heads of the Violence and Crime Prevention Unit, Evangelina Hernández, and the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, Isabela Rosales, were also present at the gathering.
After meeting with members of the security cabinet, the President went to the Treasury Room to hold his morning press conference, which began 25 minutes late.
“We’re a bit late because we’re saying goodbye to all the members of the security cabinet. We’re definitely going to be working until the last day,” the president explained.
