Although newer “Legend of Zelda” games like “Breath of the Wild” and “Tears of the Kingdom” were big hits for Nintendo, some fans long for old school Zelda games as opposed to more modern open world games.
Enter “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” for Nintendo Switch. The new game is now available for purchase for $59.99 at Target, Walmart and Best Buy.
This new installment, which is in the style of “Link’s Awakening,” is the first entry in the nearly 40-year-old franchise where you can play as Princess Zelda herself instead of Link.
After a mysterious rift engulfs Hyrule, Link gets trapped in “The Still World.” Now Princess Zelda, along with her trusty Tri-Rod and fairy companion Tri, has to save him from the rift and put her kingdom back together.

‘The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom’
The game has new “echo” mechanics, which makes it possible to replicate objects and enemies to work for you instead of against you. In our hands-on testing of the game, we found that this new mechanic opens up a lot of possibilities for exploration and problem-solving. And while there is a slight learning curve, the more you learn and use it, the more options you have to continue your journey through Hyrule.
Aside of “Echoes of Wisdom,” Nintendo also released “Princess Peach: Showtime!” earlier in 2024. This is the first time that the gaming company released two video games that feature Princess Zelda and Princess Peach as playable protagonists instead of as just damsels in distress.
Beginning on Thursday, Sept. 26, “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” is available for Nintendo Switch at Target, Walmart and Best Buy. It’s priced at $59.99. In the meantime, you can watch the trailer below.
