The Ministry of Public Education (SEP) establishes the dates of start and end of classesholidays and school vacations with the objective of having 190 effective days of classes throughout the country. Below we tell you what you should know about winter holidays 2024.
How long until winter vacation?
There are approximately 58 business days until the start of winter holidays. That is, two and a half months for the first vacation period of the 2024-2025 cycle.
The date on which students will take winter break
From Thursday December 19basic education students will be able to enjoy the 2024 winter holidays. This vacation period consists of 15 business days and covers the Christmas and New Year holidays.
From January 6 to 8, 2025, teachers and administrative staff will have special after-holiday activities winter, such as the Intensive Workshop for Personnel with Management Functions and the Intensive Workshop for Teaching Personnel. These workshops are intended for preschool, primary and secondary education teachers.
The dates you should consider before the winter holidays
Before the scheduled break on December 19, students will have several days without classes in the second semester of 2024, here are the dates and the reason:
- October 25: meeting of the School Technical Council (CTE).
- November 18: commemoration of the Day of the Mexican Revolution.
- November 22: qualification record.
- November 29: meeting of the School Technical Council (CTE).
Plan your winter vacation to be less expensive
If you are planning to travel during the winter holidays without spending too muchit will be important to take into account the following recommendations with planning and flexibility:
- Avoid traveling on the festive dates of Christmas, New Year’s Day and Three Kings’ Day.
- Look for last minute deals, sometimes you can find discounts on flights, hotels and tour packages.
- Opt for national destinations or ones close to your location.
- Consider less touristy destinations.
