This is now the boy who appeared on the Kinder Chocolate boxes

Although now the face that appears in print is different, for thirty years the mischievous smile of a child accompanied everyone who bought a box of a well-known brand of chocolate. Kinder Chocolate was a German name that became popular around the world, leading the little ones to adopt the word that precisely means “children” in the German language. It was not necessary to know the language to repeat it, simply crave something sweet. Well recognizable was the boy who accompanied the chocolate bars and who was then 10 years old, Günter Euringer, although today, he is around 60, his appearance would be very different.

She became a model for the firm in 1973, just five years after it went on sale. It was his mother, who worked in an advertising company, who decided to present him to the casting after receiving many compliments about his appearance. He was chosen and his clear eyes and smile traveled the world for three decades. Of course, it was not always the same image as adjustments were made over time. Nobody knew what his real appearance was, because in the images he became a kind of Peter Pan who never grew up. That was until 2005, tired of speculation about his real life, he broke his silence.

He did it through a book of memoirs titled The Kind of Schokolade (could be translated as The chocolate boy) in which he told of his experience as a model child and what he would erase from that time. In fact, he admits in his pages that he was very insecure and was ashamed of his physical appearance. I was also not a big fan of the chocolate it promoted. The most curious thing perhaps is that for that work he was paid just over 300 German marks at the time (about 150 euros).

The news that followed about Euringer indicated that he studied to be a cameraman and worked in advertising and making video clips. He works near Munich as a film producer and cinematographer, according to recent reports. It is also known that he married and had two children, although since that job that gave him world fame he has led an anonymous life.

The baton as the brand’s image was taken by the British Josh Bateson, who was on the tills until 2019.
