Lucía Villalón gives birth to her second ‘superhero’ after a pregnancy marked by ‘anguish and fear’

Start to Lucía Villalón and Gonzalo Melero a new stage in which happiness has multiplied by welcoming their second child, for whom they have chosen the name Lucas. The journalist and the UD Almería player have lived a few months marked by uncertainty due to the baby’s kidney complication, but they breathe easier having their child in their arms. “Another of our superheroes in the world,” they said when sharing the happy news.

“He was born by cesarean section listening to a million scars and Joseph’s motherof The song of the madmanin an operating room in La Paz. We saw him born and he appeared sticking out his tongue at us. We were able to do skin to skin, which we couldn’t do at the time with Diego, and I couldn’t stop crying while the three of us hugged each other. How I needed that moment to recharge my batteries…”, the journalist said along with the first images of the baby.

It has not been an easy pregnancy for the couple. These months of waiting have been marked by uncertainty, anguish and fear, but also by desire and strength. In one of the check-ups they were told that the baby had “a multicystic kidney and a ureterocele that, if complicated, would involve a puncture operation with Lucas in my belly.” Now that they have the child in their arms, “it is time to continue testing and fighting, it is still not clear what he has, how he has it, how it works or what they are going to do,” they indicated. “Tomorrow they will do more tests and soon we will clear up doubts and we will know how his kidneys and ureters are. We have to continue praying and fighting now all together,” they detailed.

“Thank you Gonzalo for making me so happy, for being such a good father and for creating with me the best team in the world,” Lucía said after having her second child. Lucas has been with his older brother, Diego, for two years, who was born in August 2022. The small age difference between them will allow them to grow up together, sharing games, pranks and accompanying each other at every stage. Surely, a unique and indestructible bond is created between them, like the one between Lucía and his little sister, Maria. The interior designer and Jaime O’Donnell’s children, Brezo and Tristán, will also form a great team with their cousins.

It should be remembered that during her first pregnancy, her son Diego was diagnosed with gastroschisis, a malformation of the abdominal wall that causes the intestines to develop outside the body. They were very difficult times, since the baby had to undergo two operations as soon as he was born and spend time in the ICU. He was discharged three weeks after his arrival into the world, but quickly proved to be a true survivor. He recovered little by little until now, when he just turned two years old, becoming a healthy, fun and unstoppable child.

Lucía and Gonzalo are very grateful to the staff at the La Paz hospital in Madrid “for being so wonderful and getting us through.” The couple has their residence set in Andalusia, they have become a family of four (five taking into account Paco, their dog) four years after meeting each other. In 2022 they got married civilly in a totally intimate ceremony, but their dream is to also celebrate a religious wedding. She herself explained in HELLO! that they do not have a decided date nor have they made plans about it because they are not in a hurry and are focused on the children, but they are clear that the day will come: “We want God’s blessing, of course, and we believe in religious marriage “.
