NESN host Sophia Jurksztowicz, of Boston Bruins broadcasts, is taking a leave of absence

A popular NESN host for Bruins broadcasts will be missing from your TV screen at the start of the season.

Sophia Jurksztowicz announced on Tuesday that she’s taking a temporary leave of absence “due to personal reasons.”

She addressed her social media statement to her “favorite nation (Bruins nation).”

“This summer I signed a contract extension with NESN and I couldn’t be happier to continue my journey as your Bruins host,” Jurksztowicz posted. “But due to personal reasons, I’m going to have to delay my season start with NESN and the team.

“I don’t want anyone to worry, I WILL be okay, but right now I just need to take time away from work,” she wrote. “I’ve received nothing but support from NESN with my circumstances and I seriously could not be more grateful to be working at NESN or more thankful for all the love from my teammates.”

Jurksztowicz added that she has missed being at the rink during the preseason.

“… And I’m going to miss interacting with all of you too,” she wrote. “You’re the best fans in the world and you’re my home away from home. I can’t wait to be back. In the meantime, I’m always cheering. GO BRUINS!!!”

NESN in a statement said Jurksztowicz is taking a temporary leave of absence to “focus on personal matters.”

“The NESN team wishes Sophia well during this time and looks forward to having her back on Bruins broadcasts when she is ready to return,” NESN wrote. “In the interim, we ask that everyone respect Sophia’s privacy.”

During the offseason, NESN named Judd Sirott as the new voice of the Bruins, taking over for Jack Edwards after he stepped away following a 19-year run in the NESN broadcast booth.
