David Mitchell’s Ludwig accidentally solves more murders

Pick of the day: Ludwig

9pm, BBC One

This addition to the ever-growing cosy-crime canon is a cut above the rest thanks to its top cast, some deft comic writing and the clever central premise. David Mitchell’s unworldly puzzle fanatic John “Ludwig” Taylor continues to impersonate his charismatic police detective brother, Jack, in the hope of solving the mystery of his sibling’s disappearance. “What if there is another murder today?” asks his sister-in-law Lucy (Anna Maxwell Martin) as John says he needs to return to the police station to locate a possible code to Jack’s cyphered notebook. And, of course, there is another murder, as Felicity Kendal guests as a stately home owner.
