He National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) announced the progress of the light vehicle sales to the public in the domestic market, which showed that in September they sold 116 thousand 543 units.
According to him Administrative Registry of the Automotive Industry of Light Vehicles (Raiavl) reported by the Institute, the figure meant a 8.7 percent decrease compared to the sales of the immediately previous month, which were 127,684, that is, 11,141 units less.
In its comparison against the same month last yearhe Raiavl noted that sales of light cars also reported a 1.4 percent decreasewhich represented 1,709 fewer units sold during September 2024.
Regarding the accumulated for the period January-September 2024the Inegi reported that the total sales of light units reached one million 79 thousand 413 unitswhich represented an increase of 10 percent compared to the same period last year.
The Institute explained that during January-September 2024 The number of light units sold reported by the industry exceeded the 976,542 units sold in the same period of 2023 by 102,871 vehicles.
Meanwhile, the figures of production and export of light vehicles are not yet available, since Inegi indicated that the full Raiavl report will be released on October 4 of this year.
For the dissemination of this administrative record, authorization is available from the 23 affiliated companies to the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA), as well as 4 non-affiliated companies, to publish information on the number of vehicles of each of the 39 corresponding brands and models that they produce and/or market in Mexico.
