Marko Cortes. senator of the National Action Party, will present a bill to classify the crime of ‘narcoterrorism’ in it Federal Penal Code.
In an interview, the PAN member explained that classifying this crime would allow a closer collaboration with several countries to combat organized crime that “generates terror, fear in many parts of the country.”
“We are going to present this initiative again because it is also part of the platform of the National Action Party registered with the National Electoral Institute.
“It is part of our proposals, because what we want is for people to be able to live in peace, to be able to go to work calmly, without fear, and that is why we require institutional, international collaboration to be able to combat this scourge,” he noted.
—Is the help you propose very similar to what the Colombia Plan at the time?—,he was asked.
“What we propose is that this crime of narcoterrorism be classified, which allows other countries to collaborate more decisively with Mexico to combat organized crime.”
He considered that there must be international collaboration, without submission or intervention, “as happens among many democratic countries in the world.”
He defined the ‘narcoterrorism’“when criminal groups set vehicles on fire to generate fear, when they throw human bodies in different places, to generate fear and terror, when they shoot up houses, schools to generate terror”.
“AND“This is what we are experiencing in Mexico, a permanent terror, and it is clear that the Mexican governments have not been able to, not this one but the previous ones, broad and serious coordination is required, not subordination.”
Finally, the president of Acción Nacional recalled that the senator Lilly Tellezthree years ago, presented a similar initiative.
