Bedford Police, Fire respond to moose in swimming pool

One brave swimmer made a splash taking a dip in a chilly Bedford, New Hampshire, pool Thursday morning, local police reported — a moose.

Around 8:45 a.m. Bedford Police and Fire departments responded to reports of the wild animal in a swimming pool at a house on Riddle Drive.

The responders arrived to find an “adult moose in a swimming pool under a pool cover,” police reported.

They removed the cover to let the animal out, the department said. Bedford Police video shows the massive animal apparently confused as the cover is slowly lifted, facing backwards into the cover before turning to see the responders.

The moose lumbers towards the shallow end, where the water comes up to only about half its legs, and quickly hops out, the video shows. The animal then trots to the side yard, pauses and unhurriedly leaves into a wooded area.
