Gloria Camila tells how Ortega Cano is after breaking her humerus in a spectacular fall on the subway

José Ortega Cano’s family experienced a tremendous scare when they called to alert them that the 70-year-old right-hander had suffered a sharp fall in the Madrid metro and had to be rushed to the hospital. The accident took place on October 1 around two in the afternoon. It all happened because a young man’s sweatshirt got caught in the slot of the escalator and the mechanism stopped automatically and caused several people to fall on top of the bullfighter. After the accident, Ortega felt severe pain and was unable to get up from the ground, which led to them calling the emergency services who immediately transferred him to the Infanta Sofía Hospital in San Sebastián de los Reyes to find out the extent of his injuries.

As soon as they heard the news, his brothers and his daughter Gloria Camila went to the medical center to be with him and late in the afternoon he was discharged waiting to find out if he had to undergo surgery for the broken humerus. Several days later it was his daughter Gloria Camila who offered the last minute on her state of health. Visibly calmer, Rocío Jurado’s daughter explained that the scare is fortunately over.

“The recovery is going quite well, better than it seemed. A pain that is also incredible because in the end the humerus was broken and it is an immense and intense pain. But hey, well. We already know that my father is also strong and can do everything. We are there taking care of him,” says Gloria, who he adores his father and he has always been very aware of him. The right-hander’s daughter admits that it gave her “more impression of how he was, than what it later became. Because in the end it was milder than it seemed. There is no need to operate, the bone is clean, so well, now a little recovery, slow, with the sling and little by little.

Gloria Camila recognizes that her father was in the wrong because when the escalator suddenly stopped, people rushed at him and he “fell on his shoulder and hurt himself.” “Now he will have check-ups for a while and then he will also have physio, so he has to go little by little,” he adds. But he wanted to emphasize that the bullfighter has not lost his spirit at any time. “He’s fine, he’s funny, he’s happy, he’s not depressed, he’s not down, so good, good, thank you very much,” he concluded.
