A couple of changes coming for Bruins against Avalanche

Bruins coach Jim Montgomery is making a couple of lineup changes going into Wednesday night’s matchup with the Colorado Avalanche in Denver (9:30 p.m., TNT).

Max Jones and Riley Tufte will draw into the lineup and play on the third line flanking center Matt Poitras and Trent Frederic will bump up to the second line with Brad Marchand and Charlie Coyle. Coming out of the lineup will be Morgan Geekie and Justin Brazeau, neither of whom scored in the first four games of the season.

Montgomery is looking for an infusion of energy from Jones, who hasn’t played since the season opener, and Tufte, who saw 9:21 of icetime in the second game of the season against Montreal.

“I want to see speed, I want to see tenacity, I want to see relentlessness,” Montgomery told reporters in Denver. “If you’re going to have an impact and develop yourself into a role, you’ve got to have an impact on the ice. Just being in the right position and not making things happen isn’t going to cut it.”

Montgomery would not say whether Jeremy Swayman or Joonas Korpisalo would start. Korpisalo has not played since giving up a half dozen in the season opener in Florida.

The Avalanche, meanwhile, will be looking for their firt win of the season. The Avs are 0-3 and have allowed 20 goals.
