On October 17, after an armed confrontation in the municipality of Culiacán, six people lost their lives in a violent event that culminated in a significant seizure of weapons and vehicles by the Mexican Army.
The confrontation occurred in the town of El Guasimal, where elements of the Army deployed an operation after detecting suspicious movements in the area. During the exchange of fire, The armed forces managed to neutralize several aggressors and proceeded to secure a considerable amount of weapons and equipment.
Among what was seized were 22 high-caliber firearms, including assault rifles and rifles for exclusive use of the Army. Besides, 12 vehicles were seized, some of them with modifications to resist bullet impacts, as well as two grenades, an unspecified number of magazines and cartridges of different calibers, and various tactical equipment used by armed civilians.
All confiscated material was transferred and placed at the disposal of the competent authorities, who will continue with the corresponding investigations. These actions include the expert analysis of the weapons and tactical equipment to confirm its type, origin, and relationship with other events of violence in the region.
This operation is part of the joint actions that the Mexican Army carries out in Sinaloa to combat organized crime and reduce violence in rural areas, where various clashes between criminal groups and security forces have been recorded in recent months.
