Bad Bunny honored this Tuesday in a video the natural and architectural riches of Puerto Rico and its international legends in the fields of politics, sports and music, in a show of pride and resistance that responds to recent insults against the island.
The Puerto Rican singer published the video on his Instagram account along with the word ‘garbage‘ (garbage), alluding to the phrase of comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who at a rally of the Republican candidate and former president Donald Trump called Puerto Rico “a floating island of garbage.”
‘We are free of hate but this race is not stupid or ‘we have our skirts and pants on well’ are some phrases from the narrator of the clip, who is the Puerto Rican actor Benicio del Toro.
At the end of the recording, the actor himself says, this time to the camera: “It comes naturally to us to be a legend because in the end there is no greater pride in each achievement than saying I am from P FKN R”.
The video was the intro to Bad Bunny’s ‘P FKN R’ concert held at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan in December 2021, and is the first time it has been released since then.
It includes images of the island’s fauna and flora, its beaches and forests and its historical heritage.
Among the renowned figures mentioned are political leaders such as Luisa Capetillo, a pioneer anarchist on the island of feminism and unionism; and Lolita Lebron, one of the independence activists who participated in an attack on the United States Congress in 1954.
From the world of sports, it includes images of the successes of legendary players such as Roberto Clemente and the boxers Felix ‘Tito’ Trinidad and the current champion Amanda Serranoamong others.
- Olympic medalists such as Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and Mónica Puig, beauty queens and musicians such as Ismael Rivera, Héctor Lavoe, Ricky Martin, Daddy Yankee and Residente also appear.
“We have been fighting since day one of our existence, we are the definition of heart and resistance. Here we continue, here we are, and for those who forget who we are… don’t worry, we proudly remind you,” the video closes with these Bad Bunny’s written statements.
Leaders of all political parties and numerous renowned artists have repudiated comedian Hinchcliffe’s insults, in some cases calling to vote for the vice president and Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris.
This is the video:
The inhabitants of Puerto Rico, a Commonwealth of the United States, They cannot vote between Trump and Harris in the elections on November 5, But the millions of Puerto Ricans who live in the United States do participate in these elections.
