BC High remains unbeaten, defeats Xaverian

DORCHESTER – Despite being unbeaten six weeks into the season, BC High was still looking my for a statement win. They now have one.

Jackson Richards rushed for 156 yards and three touchdowns while BC High’s defense showcased its mght as the Eagles came away with an impressive 30-13 victory over Catholic Conference rival Xaverian on Friday night.

The win is the Eagles’ first over Xaverian since 2017. BC High’s (5-0) unbeaten start to the season and placement atop the MIAA Div. 1 Power Rankings is impressive when considering it’s Paul Zukauskas first year at the helm.

“We’ve had this one circled for a bit,” BC High quarterback Carter Carroll said. “It’s something we’ve been working towards for sure and our guys stepped up tonight.”

Xaverian grabbed a 7-0 lead on a Will Wood one-yard keeper late in the first quarter. The following 25 minutes belonged to the hosts.

A fourth and two conversion set up a three yard touchdown run from Richards to even the score. Moments later, after the Eagles defense forced a three and out, Richards took the handoff and shot straight up the middle and went untouched, 67 yards for the score to put BC High on top 14-7.

The Eagles carried a 17-7 advantage late into the third period before salting away the game with the most pivotal drive of the night. On 4th down and three, Carter Carroll hit Conrad Babka for six yards. Later in the drive, with the Eagles this time facing a fourth down and 12, Carroll hit Babka for 14 yards.

The two conversions set up Richards third touchdown run of the night, this one from six yards out, to give the Eagles a commanding 24-7 edge with 10:10 left.

“We are confident,” Carroll said. “We feel like we can play with anyone.”

Xaverian star running back Vincent Busa missed the game due to injury.
