Manuel García Rulfo has found a new setting in Hollywood for his career, and his participation in Jurassic World has opened the doors to an international projection broader that adds to his recent work in Pedro Páramo.
His character in the iconic franchisenot only allowed him to work with a cast of world stars, but also reliving a childhood dream: “Jurassic Park, Spielberg’s first, changed my life”commented Manuel García-Rulfo.
“Jurassic Park was a guideline in my life, it opened doors for me to fall in love with cinema,” added the actor, about his personal connection with the saga created by Steven Spielberg in the nineties, which is already part of the Mexican’s filmography.
The production, directed by Gareth Edwards, allowed him to work alongside an international cast which he has always admired, which he considers as a professional achievement; although he did not reveal details due to confidentiality agreements.
“I had my dinosaurs and I never imagined being part of that franchise. It is incredible since it starts with a spectacular cast, the same writer of the original, of the first, Gareth, is trying to take it to a new point for the story,” he said.
On the other hand, his interpretation of Pedro Páramo in Rodrigo Prieto’s version marks a special chapter in his career, due to the emotional and symbolic load of the character. For García Rulfo, this role represented a challenge not only professional, but also personal.
“For all of Mexico it is a novel and an iconic character, it brings that weight, trying to make our adaptation, our Pedro Páramo”, however, under the direction of Prieto, he found a new dimension in the character. “It was taking it to a more vulnerable point,” he added.
