Floods cause deaths in Valencia
Carlos Mazón has confirmed that the regional emergency services have found a Undetermined number of bodies in the eastern areas of Spain that have suffered floods, although neither the location nor the provisional figure has been specified, because it has not yet been possible to communicate it to the relatives.
“There are lifeless bodies in some of the points that have begun to be accessed and bodies that continue to appear. Out of respect for the families, we are not going to give more information,” explained the president in an intervention broadcast live on À Punt.
The president of the regional government has asked for peace of mind to those who are trapped or blocked by the floods.
“It will be achieved, if it has not been done it is not because of a lack of capacity, but because of a problem of access. Where it has not been achieved it is because it has been impossible.”
Mazón has sent those trapped “a message of patience and strength” although he has assumed that “it is difficult.”
In reference to the Forata dam (Yátova, Valencia), Mazón also wanted to convey tranquility.
“The situation at the reservoir has stabilized. There is no danger.”
However, he has recommended that the population “look for high places even if it is not raining”, given the forecast of new avenues.
He has also insisted that the 112 telephone service “has not fallen”, but rather “continues to be the contact vehicle” in the event of any emergency and has answered more than 10 thousand calls this Tuesday.
“Throughout the night and early in the morning the role of some mayors will be fundamental, but we have not yet been able to contact some. The night is going to continue to be very long,” he concluded.
