With the intention of having a body that is in charge of the cases of violence against women and childhood in Coahuila, the Secretary of Government, Oscar Pimenteldelivered to the local Congress an initiative for the creation of a specialized prosecutor’s office, which will begin its legislative process starting this week and is part of a work carried out jointly by the three powers in the entity.
During the presentation of the initiative, the head of the Women’s Secretariat, Mayra Valdesstated that the violence against that genre produces social inequality.
He indicated that public statistics from 2021 reveal that in Coahuila 46 percent of women over 15 years of age experienced some type of aggression in the last year of life, while seven out of 10 reported having suffered some type of aggression. violence throughout his life.
Valdés explained that with the creation of a specialized prosecutor’s office there will be no problems with the Ombudsman for Children and Familiespointing out that each one will have well-defined functions and will complement each other in the attention of these cases.
“We will work in parallel because the issues that the attorney’s office The new prosecutor would already be seeing them; you have to give one specific training for both lawyers and psychologists and public ministries for what it means to address crime issues in a gender situation.”
The presentation of the initiative was attended by women representatives of the different powers in the entity and applauded the delivery of the document for the creation of a specialized prosecutor’s office in violence against women and children.
Valdes He explained that this new institution will have a comprehensive vision of protection, addressing violence against women and children, ensuring access to justice with gender perspective.
“This initiative seeks to materialize the access of the women and girls to a life free of violence and without discriminationas well as gender equality; That is why the addition of a prosecutor’s office for women and children to the state attorney general’s office is proposed,” he stated.
According to the initiative presented on Thursday, this new prosecutor’s office will have technical autonomy and operational for the investigation and prosecution of crimes committed by gender reason and crimes against the infants.
