“The great objective of this award ceremony was not only to think about winners, who are the best or the most successful song. It was thought to recognize the creative work of authors who have been working for 25 years, of authors with 50 years as composers. It was announced that the current edition of the SACM Éxito Awards comes with many surprises, among which the tribute to the career of Marco Antonio Solís El Buki with the delivery of the ‘Grand Master’ distinction, with which the SACM intends to highlight the popular, national and international relevance of the music of the Michoacan composer in his more than five decades of career.
“It is an implacable desire to recognize my countryman El Buki because he is one of the most important references of Mexican composers internationally. Because of the prestige it has given to our country, it is well deserved that They give him the recognition of Grand Master“explained Martín Urieta, president of the board of directors of the SACM, about the tenth creditor of this award.
In the twentieth edition, the posthumous Juventino Rosas Award will be presenteda recognition that honors those authors whose work continues to be part of the national songbook and continues to conquer new audiences even after their death. On this occasion the award-winning author will be Fernando Z. Maldonado, composer born in San Luis Potosí who created works such as “Come back”, “Beautiful darling” and “I can’t get used to being without you”.
Both Cantoral and Urieta commented that this is a very special edition and that many surprises will be presented for attendees and for those who decide to watch the ceremony online.
Other authors who will be awarded (whether 25 or 50 years old) are: Santa Benith, Fitte, Alejandro Abaroa, Mario Pupparo, Roberto Belester, Teodoro Bello, Martín Urieta himself, among many others.
Cantoral emphasized that The SACM is not in charge of qualifying or criticizing the type of genres and discourses that are presented, but rather seeks to support Mexican composers by recognizing the work they do with their music. _
