A host of stars from the worlds of sport, soap operas and reality TV will be attempting to glide to glory next year after signing up for Dancing on Ice.
Twelve bold celebrities, including Olympians and comedians, have been confirmed to do the ITV show in 2025.
Hosted by Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, it is expected to be back on our screens in January 2025.
With former Olympic ice-skaters Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean likely to be heading up the judging panel alongside dancers Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse.
We take a look at who will be hoping to skate to greatness next year.
Sir Steve Redgrave
Former Olympic rower Sir Steve Redgrave, 62, won gold medals at five successive Games from 1984 to 2000, making him the most successful male rower in Olympic history.
He has completed three London Marathons since retiring from rowing and started a rowing academy in India.
But he has had some health issues including being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and ulcerative colitis.
Speaking about his decision to join Dancing on Ice, he told This Morning: “It’s like going back to being an athlete again, I’ve been competing most of my life.”
Dame Sarah Storey
Paralympic cyclist and swimmer Dame Sarah Storey, 46, is fresh from Paris where she secured her 19th gold medal in the cycling road event.
She has won 30 Paralymic medals during her sporting career and competed in able-bodied events despite not having a functioning left hand.
The mother-of-two told ITV’s Lorraine: “I’m excited to learn a new skill and have the opportunity to put myself out there and learn a new sport.”
Anton Ferdinand
Former footballer Anton Ferdinand, 39, has played for West Ham, Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers during his career.
He retired from playing professional football in 2019 and has appeared as a pundit on TalkSport since then.
Speaking about his decision to sign up on TalkSport, he said: “I’m in a new phase of my life since retiring from football and the one of the things I’ve missed about playing is the structure it gives you.
“Dancing On Ice will give me that focus but I’m also doing it for my daughter because she loves dance and performing arts.”
Michaela Strachan
Springwatch star Michaela Strachan, 58, started out as a presenter on Saturday morning television in the 80s with shows such as Good Morning Britain and the Wide Awake Club.
A regular reporter for Countryfile for many years, she is perhaps best known as one of the presenters of the BBC’s Spring/Autumn and Winterwatch.
She admitted on ITV’s Lorraine she had been asked previously to do Dancing on Ice before finally accepting.
She said: “It’s going to be a big challenge.
“I have no idea whether I’m going to be good, average or totally rubbish!”
Charlie Brooks
Actress Charlie Brooks, 43, rose to fame as Janine Butcher in the BBC soap EastEnders.
It is a role she has reprised on a number of occasions between 1999 and 2022.
She has some form when it comes to reality shows having one I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here in 2012 and the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special in 2011.
After she was announced as a Dancing on Ice contestant, she said: “All I want to do is enjoy it and try not to break my leg.”
Josh Jones
Comedian Josh Jones, 31, has had two comedy tours “Waste of Space” and “Gobsmacked” and appeared as a guest panellist on shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats and Celebability.
Discussing his decision to join the show on radio station Gaydio, he said he “wasn’t very good” at skating.
He added: “My dancing isn’t great either, for a gay man I have no rhythm, I struggle to clap along to a beat so this will be fun.”
Sam Aston
Actor Sam Aston, 31, has played the role of hapless Chesney Brown in Coronation Street since 2003.
He was just five when he first acted the character in the long-running soap.
Speaking about his new challenge on ice on This Morning on Monday, the father-of-three said: “I can’t say it was something that I always wanted to do.
“The press office mentioned it, we went for a chat and I got a real buzz just going in and experiencing it.”
He revealed part of the decision-making process involved standing on the ice for five or 10 minutes to get a basic sense of what it will be like.
Chelsee Healey
Hollyoaks star Chelsee Healy, 36, has starred in BBC dramas Waterloo Road and Casualty.
She currently plays Goldie McQueen in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks and has previous experience of reality shows.
She was runner-up in Strictly Come Dancing in 2011 and Celebs Go Dating.
Speaking to Heart Radio, she said: “I’m ready, I’m good to go, let’s go!
“I’ve got a bit of rhythm but skating on ice is completely different, I’m excited.”
Ferne McCann
Television personality Ferne McCann rose to fame in the reality show The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE).
She went on to star in her own series Ferne McCann: First Time Mum, which was then rebrandded to My Family & Me.
She has also been a regular showbiz reporter on This Morning came third in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here in 2015.
The 34-year-old revealed she had joined Dancing on Ice while on Good Morning Britain.
She said: “I do want to be good. I am competitive.”
Chris Taylor
Chris Taylor, 34, started out as a contestant on the fifth series of ITV’s Love Island.
Although he failed to find true love, he did return to the show this his year for Love Island: All Stars.
He also had a cameo role in one of 2024’s biggest movies Barbie, as Ken Emcee.
He told Heart Radio “I’m somewhere between absolutely terrified and very excited and I keep flitting between the two quite aggressively throughout the day.
“I’ve not even started stretching yet, I need to.”
Dan Edgar
Dan Edgar, 34, also has TOWIE to thank for his public profile.
The former electrician from Thurrock has starred in the show since 2015.
Speaking after his participation was revealed, he said: “I like to think I can ice skate a little bit but I’m a terrible dancer so that bit is going to need some work.”
Mollie Pearce
Mollie Pearce, 22, shot to fame earlier this year as the runner-up in the second series of the BBC game show Traitors.
The Somerset-born model, who was born without fingers on her right hand, came runner-up in the show after trusting in winning Traitor Harry Clark.
She has made appearances on the talk show Loose Women since then.
Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine show on Monday, she said: “I haven’t started training yet, but I am raring to go now.
“The thought is scary but I want to get started.”
