Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño thanked President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for the decree to grant a lifetime pension to the mothers and fathers of victims of the fire at the ABC Daycare, which occurred on June 5, 2009, thereby addressing a heartfelt demand for provide equal conditions to the victims of this unfortunate event.
Last Saturday, September 28, reforms and additions to the Decree published on July 20, 2010 were published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), which will come into force as of January 2025, retroactively, with which will give a lifetime pension to mothers and fathers of victims killed in the fire in Hermosillo, also including girls and boys who were permanently injured due to the incident.
Among the modifications, it is noted, in addition to the life-long benefit to all mothers and fathers of the boys and girls who died in the incident, that a life-long pension will be given to boys and girls who have suffered a disabling injury due to burns; to mothers and fathers of the children who died, as well as those who were permanently injured and those who inhaled smoke or toxic substances in the incident.
A scholarship will be provided for the education of boys and girls who were permanently injured, as well as for those who inhaled smoke or toxins produced in the incident, so that they can study the educational levels of primary, secondary, upper secondary and higher education, in official schools or with official recognition, in national territory.
Payment for the consumption of electrical energy generated in the home where the children and adults who were permanently injured and those infants who inhaled smoke or toxins produced in the incident reside, during the time that, by medical prescription , require the use of equipment for proper health care.
The state leader highlighted the willingness of the families who were victims of these events, with whom work groups have been held to collect their concerns and address these demands that had been ignored for years.
