At least eight people were killed and several more injured in a mass shooting attack in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, Israeli police said.
TV footage showed two gunmen getting off a light rail station in the Jaffa district of the Israeli city and appearing to fire point blank at people in the area.
Emergency services said they had received reports of gunfire injuries shortly after 7pm local time. Medics provided treatment to an unspecified number of victims at the scene, including unconscious victims.
Israeli police said both of the attackers were “neutralised”. Neither the shooters or the victims were identified.
Israeli media described the incident as a terror attack. It took place as alerts sounded over an incoming Iranian missile attack, with the Israeli military warning the public to shelter in safe rooms.
Police said they also investigating a report of terrorists at a hotel in Herzliya, north of Tel Aviv. No further details were given.
