The doctor Elizabeth Mar Juárez assumed the general direction of the Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP) becoming the first woman to hold this position since its founding in 1965, both to lead and support the most sustainable and competitive energy transition for the country.
On September 30, the president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardomade the appointment of Dr. Elizabeth Mar Juárez.
According to the institution, this represents a significant advance in the participation of women in leadership positions within the Mexican energy sector; reflection of the talent, capacity and determination of women to play key roles in the oil industry for the country.
Who Elizabeth Mar Juárez?
Elizabeth Mar Juárez has a PhD in Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), with honorable mention, in addition to having 6 patents; 2 national, 4 international, and more than 18 copyrights.
Participates in the organization of forums for the dissemination of research with various organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency, World Bank, ASEA, among others.
The new general director of the IMP has also promoted initiatives focused on cutting-edge topics such as bioenergy, energy transition, net zero and circular economy.
In addition, she has trained and participated in the Evaluation Instrument recognized by the organization Saber and ratified in the Official Gazette of the Nation and was a candidate for advisor to the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH), this candidacy was proposed by the former president due to his career Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
“With 23 years of experience at the IMP, Elizabeth Mar Juárez has proven to be a leader in research and development of projects focused on green energy and sustainability, establishing herself as a key figure in the evolution towards a more responsible and competitive energy future,” said the Institute.
The IMP aims to generate high-value products and services based on research projects, in order to cover the technological needs of Pemex and the oil industry.
