At least in five municipalities located in the region of The Oaxaca Coast remains in an emergency phase due to permanent registration of confirmed cases of dengue during recent weeks, a situation that places the coastal area in the second position with the highest number of cases registered in the entity.
In interview for MILLENNIUMRocÃo Hernández Pérez, head of the Health Jurisdiction 04 Coast of the Health Services of Oaxaca (SSO), pointed out that special attention is paid to the coastal municipalities of Pinotepa Nacional, Santiago Jamiltepec, San Pedro Pochutla, Santa MarÃa Huatulco and Villa de Tututepec, which are considered ‘risk municipalities’ because they have reported the highest number of confirmed cases of dengue.
In that sense, he said that at the end of epidemiological week number 41, the Coast region registers a cumulative 412 confirmed cases, as well as the record of three deaths due to the disease.
“This week the municipality of Villa de Tututepec joins us, we continue to carry out our activities in relation to larval control, thermofogging and nebulization in priority localities and especially in risk municipalities,” he indicated.
The head of the Health Jurisdiction mentioned that the emerging plan to fight dengue is continuing and if necessary it will be extended until the infection curve in the area is reduced.
“The emerging plan in this municipality was to go from August 1st to November 31st, however, we know the importance, if there were the case, we would be implementing the actions as until today,” he said.
Finally, he called on citizens to join preventive actions to reduce the risk of contagion:
“Fumigation is not the magic wand, fumigation kills the mosquitoes above, however, the breeding sites are in small or very large water tanks, so it is essential that you support us, that you participate so that we can intervene.”
